low-income

community solar

(solar for all)

Low-Income Community Solar, or Solar for All Program, helps income-eligible homeowners and renters benefit from solar energy cost savings without installing solar panels on their property. Instead, residents subscribe to a community solar project in their utility area, built by qualified solar companies. Participants are guaranteed to see savings on their energy bills.

If you qualify, your next step will be to officially verify your income.
Don’t know if you qualify? Check out this table to help!

There are two ways to do this:

  1. SSign up directly for a project through PureSky Energy (sign up here and get a $50 gift card before March 31st) OR Nexamp (sign up here). Each company will help you verify your income and get you signed up as a subscriber; or

  2. Verify your income through the state Solar for All Program website. Call the state’s program team at 1.888.970.4732 with any questions. Once your income is verified, you will receive information about subscribing to available projects.

You will need to provide one of the following items when verifying your income:

  1. Proof of enrollment in another income-eligible program (SNAP, LIHEAP, Medicaid, or another similar program);

  2. The first two pages of your federal income tax return (1040) form with sensitive information blurred out from one of the past two years; or

  3. An income affidavit if you can’t use options 1 or 2.

NOTE: If you do not qualify for Low-Income Community Solar and want to be part of a community solar program, the Illinois Shines program is for you!
